Growing up in Southern California, my family frequented the theatre, laying a foundation of appreciation for the performing arts. I found my love for scenic design while volunteering for the high school theatre program my sister headed. Designing creates new challenges as each production brings a new perspective and a chance to “think outside the box.” I most enjoy working in a collaborative environment, which is one of the reasons design for the theatre feels so natural to me.

Through scenic design, I have found a home for my interest in art & architectural styles. It’s cathartic to take the structure of a building and break it down to its bones to create a playground for actors. My favorite visual style relies heavily on the use of light & shadow.

While attending Fullerton College I began to formally study production and design. It was there that I was given the opportunity to design my first show. Going on to transfer to CSU Fullerton, I gained more design experience and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Design & Production.

After graduation, I began working for a thematic construction company, starting as a Scenic Artist then quickly being promoted to Specialty Finishes Coordinator. Notable projects include Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (West Coast) and Universal Studios Hollywood’s The Secret Life of Pets. In late 2019, I returned to Fullerton College to fill a position as an adjunct faculty member for theatrical design and production. I recently joined the adjunct faculty at Cypress College where I teach Scene Painting and Scenic Lab.

Having also received a professional certificate in photography, I enjoy spending my free time taking photos and headshots. In addition, I volunteer as a lighting designer/programmer and production team member for my church for both live and recorded services. When not working, I enjoy exploring the architecture and art of other places around the world.
